Dr Tan is a general practitioner who has been in private practice since 1994. Known for her affable personality, she is passionate about treating her patients. Not merely with the dispensation of drugs, but also to help them understand why certain illnesses occur and how to recover without relying solely on medications. Her efforts in patient education have landed her in several print and broadcast interviews over the years.

Dr Tan graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Miami, USA. In 1991, she graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and practiced medicine there for two years. Upon returning to Singapore, Dr Tan joined the NUH orthopaedic department for a two-year stint before starting work in private practice. Apart from general medicine, she also has an interest in conducting health screens for preventive care and early detection of diseases.
